 What is it for?
Chemists' Own Saw Palmetto 1600 is formulated to assist in the relief of the symptoms of medically diagnosed benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Symptoms can include increased urinary frequency, weak urinary stream, hesitancy, impairment of urinary stream and nocturia.
How does it work?
- The exact mechanism of action of Saw Palmetto has yet to be elucidated. Testosterone is metabolised to the physiologically active androgen dihydrotestosterone by the enzyme 5a-reductase. Saw Palmetto contains fatty acids and phytosterols, including §-sitosterol and stigmasterol, that are thought to affect hormone production and inhibit the enzyme 5a-reductase thereby slowing the rate of prostate enlargement.

Saw Palmetto (Serenoa serrulata) extract equivalent to dry fruit 1.6g
standardised to contain fatty acids 144mg
Inactive ingredients
The inactive ingredients are cochineal CI75470, gelatin, glycerol, iron oxide black CI77499, iron oxide red CI77491, polysorbate 80, propylene glycol, purified water, soya oil and sunflower oil.

Physical description
Opaque red brown oval soft gelatin capsule.
Dosage
Adults - Take one capsule two times daily with food or as professionally directed.
