 What is it for?
Chemists' Own Iron Complex can assist in maintaining healthy blood, reduce the risk of dietary iron deficiency and support immune function. It contains other important nutrients including Vitamin C to enhance the absorption of iron, and Vitamin B12 and Folic Acid to assist in the manufacture of red blood cells.
Iron is an essential mineral, and is critical in the production of haemoglobin, the key component of healthy red blood cells that facilitates the uptake and transport of oxygen around the body. Dietary iron deficiency can result in generalised fatigue and lethargy, and an increased susceptibility to infections.
How does it work?
- Iron requirements can be increased due to poor diet, menstruation, pregnancy and lactation.
- Iron supplementation can also be of particular benefit to vegetarians.
- Research has shown that more than one quarter of all adolescent females and over half of all adult females have iron intakes below the Australian recommended dietary intake (RDI).
